Trump Jr. raises his Polymarket bet to US$500 million

Published date: 2026-09-03

Donald Trump Jr. increased his financial exposure to Polymarket on September 1, 2026, after 1789 Capital, the investment firm where he is a partner, agreed to contribute approximately US$300 million more to the platform as part of a new US$1 billion funding round. The transaction raises Polymarket’s valuation to approximately US$21 billion and brings 1789 Capital’s cumulative investment in the company to around US$500 million.

The firm had already committed roughly US$200 million to Polymarket. With the new transaction, 1789 Capital strengthens its position as one of the company’s leading financial backers. Polymarket was founded in 2020 by Shayne Coplan, its current founder and CEO, and allows users to trade contracts linked to politics, elections, sports, economics, entertainment and international events.

Trump Jr. is not involved solely through capital. He also holds an advisory role at Polymarket, combining financial exposure with strategic involvement in a company whose valuation has expanded rapidly; around US$9 billion in mid-2025, approximately US$15 billion later on, and now US$21 billion following the latest funding round. Polymarket’s growth is also backed by institutional capital. Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), owner of the New York Stock Exchange, has committed investments that could reach approximately US$1.64 billion, with its stake estimated at close to 22%, according to financial reports.

Polymarket’s expansion in the United States also accelerated after its acquisition of QCEX for approximately US$112 million, a transaction that gave the company regulated infrastructure to return to the US market under the supervision of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

Omeed Malik

Trump Jr. became a partner at 1789 Capital just days after the November 2024 presidential election. The firm, founded by Omeed Malik, managed approximately US$150 million before his arrival and, according to figures cited in legislative inquiries in 2026, later surpassed US$3 billion in assets under management.

The September 1 transaction therefore places Trump Jr. directly inside one of the highest-valued companies in the emerging prediction-market sector, US$500 million committed by 1789 Capital against a Polymarket valuation that has now reached US$21 billion.
