The complaint argues the statute creates an unlawful \u201cmonopoly\u201d by limiting iGaming licenses to Maine\u2019s <strong>federally recognized Wabanaki Nations<\/strong>, and alleges violations of equal-protection principles under both U.S. and Maine law. Court records show the complaint was filed <strong>January 23, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The filing also highlights how the law defines \u201cinternet gaming\u201d as casino-style table games\u2014such as <strong>blackjack, poker, craps, roulette and baccarat<\/strong>\u2014offered through approved digital platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oxford Casino says the structure could materially harm its land-based business. Local reporting notes the casino cites a study projecting <strong>378 job losses<\/strong>, about <strong>$22 million<\/strong> in lost labor income and roughly <strong>$60 million<\/strong> in reduced value added, while also stating Oxford employs <strong>364<\/strong> people.
