Andrew Woods<\/strong>, director of the Center for Business & Economic Research at the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV)<\/strong>, forecasts that Las Vegas will welcome 40.5 million visitors in 2026<\/strong>, up from 38.5 million in 2025<\/strong>, representing an increase of 2 million visitors<\/strong> and annual growth of 5%<\/strong>. Although still below the record of 42.9 million visitors in 2016<\/strong>, the projection signals a meaningful rebound following a softer 2025. Woods noted that convention attendance is up nearly 10%<\/strong>, adding approximately 250,000 more attendees<\/strong>, while vehicle traffic from California increased almost 3%<\/strong>. Higher-income travelers continue to drive spending, with 48% of 2025 visitors reporting annual household income above US$140,000<\/strong>, while private aviation traffic at Harry Reid International Airport<\/strong> rose 5%<\/strong> during the first quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Shelley Newell<\/strong>, senior economist at the Nevada Gaming Control Board<\/strong>, the Las Vegas Strip<\/strong> generated US$689.4 million<\/strong> in gaming win during April 2026, an increase of 6.6%<\/strong> compared with the same month last year. Slot machines contributed US$407 million<\/strong> in revenue from more than US$5.1 billion<\/strong> in coin-in, while table games produced US$282.4 million<\/strong>. Baccarat remained the dominant VIP segment, generating US$124.8 million<\/strong> in wins with a hold percentage of 16.5%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sports betting also delivered positive results. Mobile betting accounted for 75.8%<\/strong> of all wagers placed across the state, underscoring the industry’s continued digital transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Growth extended well beyond the Strip. Reno<\/strong> posted gaming revenue of US$72.3 million<\/strong>, up 11.8%<\/strong> year-over-year. Sparks<\/strong> reached US$15.2 million<\/strong>, increasing 20.3%<\/strong>, while Mesquite<\/strong> climbed 4.1%<\/strong> to US$18.6 million<\/strong>. South Lake Tahoe<\/strong> recorded US$18.4 million<\/strong>, up 10.5%<\/strong>, and Elko County<\/strong> produced US$33.6 million<\/strong>, increasing 1.2%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
