While <strong>Hard Rock Casino Tejon<\/strong> has emerged as a new economic engine for California just seven months after opening, the historic community of <strong>Primm<\/strong>, located on the California\u2013Nevada border, has managed to avoid the closure of its remaining gaming assets through an emergency partnership between the founding family and operator <strong>Terrible\u2019s<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/mve-ads\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\" noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/05\/ADS-MVE.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16352\" style=\"width:840px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/05\/ADS-MVE.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/05\/ADS-MVE-300x250.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/californias-corridor-drives-casino-growth-as-primm-avoids-collapse2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-71799\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the center of both stories is the <strong>Interstate 15 corridor<\/strong>, one of the most important gaming and tourism routes in North America, connecting Southern California with Las Vegas and carrying millions of travelers each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/californias-corridor-drives-casino-growth-as-primm-avoids-collapse3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-71800\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In <strong>Kern County<\/strong>, south of Bakersfield, <strong>Hard Rock Casino Tejon<\/strong> opened on <strong>November 13, 2025<\/strong>, as a <strong>US$600 million<\/strong> investment developed by the <strong>Tejon Indian Tribe<\/strong> and operated by <strong>Hard Rock International<\/strong>. The property, led by President <strong>Chris Kelley<\/strong> and supported by Tribal Chairman <strong>Octavio Escobedo III<\/strong>, quickly became one of the largest hospitality and entertainment projects in the region. The complex features <strong>150,000 square feet of gaming space<\/strong>, more than <strong>2,000 slot machines<\/strong>, over <strong>50 table games<\/strong>, themed restaurants and VIP gaming areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/californias-corridor-drives-casino-growth-as-primm-avoids-collapse4.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-71801\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Chris Kelley<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Early results have demonstrated the expected economic impact. The casino employs more than <strong>1,100 workers<\/strong>, approximately <strong>80% of whom live in Kern County<\/strong>, maintains another <strong>200 open positions<\/strong>, and paid more than <strong>US$35 million in jackpots<\/strong> during its first weeks of operation. It has also contributed over <strong>US$125,000<\/strong> to community organizations and expects to attract between <strong>2 million and 3 million visitors annually<\/strong>. A second phase includes a <strong>400-room hotel<\/strong>, spa, swimming pool and a <strong>2,800-seat entertainment venue<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/californias-corridor-drives-casino-growth-as-primm-avoids-collapse5.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-71802\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Roughly 150 miles east, the situation was very different. In <strong>Primm, Nevada<\/strong>, located directly on Interstate 15 at the California border, the historic casino corridor faced possible extinction after <strong>Affinity Interactive<\/strong>, owned by <strong>Z Capital Partners<\/strong>, announced plans to close its remaining operations. The move threatened approximately <strong>344 jobs<\/strong> and placed key assets such as <strong>Primm Valley Resort &amp; Casino<\/strong>, <strong>The Lotto Store<\/strong> and <strong>Oasis Apartments<\/strong> at risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/californias-corridor-drives-casino-growth-as-primm-avoids-collapse6.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-71803\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, on <strong>June 9, 2026<\/strong>, the Primm family reached an agreement with <strong>Terrible\u2019s<\/strong>, led by <strong>Tim Herbst<\/strong>, to take over operations and prevent the shutdown scheduled for <strong>July 4, 2026<\/strong>.
