Attorney General <strong>Letitia James<\/strong> filed the lawsuit in New York State Supreme Court in Manhattan, seeking to halt the operation, recover profits, compensate consumers and impose penalties equal to three times the allegedly unlawful gains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/mve-ads\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\" noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/05\/ADS-MVE.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16352\" style=\"width:840px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/05\/ADS-MVE.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/05\/ADS-MVE-300x250.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The estimated financial exposure reaches at least <strong>US$36 billion<\/strong>, subject to a final accounting. This is not yet a court-imposed penalty, but it exceeds Kalshi\u2019s <strong>US$22 billion valuation<\/strong>, reached after raising <strong>US$1 billion<\/strong> in May. The <strong>New York State Gaming Commission<\/strong>, chaired by <strong>Brian O\u2019Dwyer<\/strong> and managed by Executive Director <strong>Robert Williams<\/strong>, requires licensing, geolocation, responsible-gambling controls and age protections. The company filed a pre-emptive lawsuit three days later, but federal judge <strong>Analisa Torres<\/strong> denied its preliminary injunction on <strong>July 7, 2026<\/strong>. Arizona filed <strong>20 criminal counts<\/strong>; Maryland and Ohio supported state authority, while New Jersey and Tennessee delivered decisions favourable to Kalshi. Connecticut, Illinois, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Montana and Minnesota have also taken action.
