It did, however, end in a finding of suitability <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><strong>Wednesday<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\">, which cannot be said about its two competitors just yet. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:x-large\">Wynn&rsquo;s application for retail <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legalsportsreport.com\/massachusetts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sports betting in Massachusetts<\/a> was the only one of the three casinos to get commission approval this week. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\">Votes on <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><strong>Penn National <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\">and <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><strong>MGM Resorts<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"> applications were deferred to a later date because of various questions that need to be addressed. The commission&rsquo;s approval does not mean sports betting can legally happen in Massachusetts yet. Retail sports betting is scheduled for a <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><strong>January<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"> launch. Mobile is expected to go live in time for <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><strong>March Madness<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"> betting. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><strong>Minor hangups in Wynn sports betting application<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\">As it turns out, the <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><strong>367-page<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"> application from <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><strong>Encore Boston Harbor<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"> was not long enough. A small portion of the application was realized to be missing mid-meeting. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\">The MGC voted unanimously to accept the missing section, though, after Commissioner <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><strong>Jordan Maynard<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"> pointed out that clerical mistakes can happen with such large documents. The commission also allowed <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><strong>MGM Springfield<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"> to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MazzNYC\/status\/1597619732047613953\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">submit its retail application late<\/a> after it mistakenly submitted its mobile application instead. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\">There was another question about whether commissioners needed clarification from a <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><strong>WynnBET<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"> representative, with <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><strong>Chair Cathy Judd-Stein<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"> even wondering if that would be allowed under the scope of the review. That proposal is still alive and well, though, with details outlined on <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><strong>page 32 <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\">of the application:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\">B1 Express Sportsbook: Given that Encore Boston Harbor will open as Greater Boston area&rsquo;s only legal option to place a sports wager until the launch of mobile and category 2 venues, subject to the approval of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, we are preparing a convenient and quick way for sports wagerers to place their wager without having to enter the casino. The B1 Express Sportsbook, to be located in the parking garage, would include twenty-three (23) sports betting kiosks with convenient 15-minute parking.
