The helpline logged 10,637 calls during 2023.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff\"><u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/america\/an-ohio-commission-order-block-wagers-over-university-of-alabama-baseball-program\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">An Ohio commission order block wagers over University of Alabama Baseball program<\/a><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\">According to the report, calls have been on the rise monthly. Calls during December nearly doubled when compared to activity during this time last year. During December alone, 1,013 calls came into the helpline.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff\"><u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/america\/could-ohio-sports-betting-rules-change-sportsbook-ads-nationwide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Could Ohio Sports Betting Rules Change Sportsbook Ads Nationwide?<\/a><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/assets\/international\/ohio-problem-gambling-helpline-reports-55p-increase-in-calls-during-20232.jpg\" style=\"width:100%\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\">Problem&nbsp;Gambling&nbsp;Network of&nbsp;Ohio Associate Director Michael Buzzelli said the organization expected these results and noted that he believes this indicates more efforts to encourage responsible gambling are necessary.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\">He commented, <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><em>&quot;While we knew calls would increase and anticipated this due to the increases seen in other states already operating sports&nbsp;betting, such a dramatic increase was surprising and lets us know there is a lot of work still to be done for responsible&nbsp;gambling&nbsp;advocates statewide.&rdquo;<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\">Buzzelli went on to note that Ohio is following national trends when it comes to issues with problem gambling in demographics that include Women over 50, teenagers, minorities and with those who are not in relationships.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Arial,serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\">Sports betting in Ohio went live January 1, 2023, after state lawmakers passed House Bill 29.
