The current licenses, granted on <strong>November 23, 2021<\/strong>, expire on <strong>December 31, 2026<\/strong>. Lotto B.V., based in <strong>Rijswijk<\/strong> and controlled by <strong>Nederlandse Loterij<\/strong>, will therefore retain these operations during the <strong>2027-2031 licensing cycle<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"802\" height=\"441\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/09\/netherlands-extends-lotto-monopoly-for-five-years2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18668\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.8179012345679013;width:840px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/09\/netherlands-extends-lotto-monopoly-for-five-years2.png 802w, https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/09\/netherlands-extends-lotto-monopoly-for-five-years2-300x165.png 300w, https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/09\/netherlands-extends-lotto-monopoly-for-five-years2-768x422.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 802px) 100vw, 802px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The legal front remains open. <strong>JVH Venture II B.V. and JVH Venture IV B.V.<\/strong>, based in <strong>\u2019s-Hertogenbosch<\/strong>, applied for licenses to compete, but the Ksa rejected them on <strong>January 4, 2022<\/strong>, under <strong>Articles 14b, 16 and 27b of the Dutch Gambling Act (Wet op de kansspelen)<\/strong>, which allow only one authorization in each segment. The <strong>District Court of Oost-Brabant<\/strong> overturned that decision on <strong>February 29, 2024<\/strong>, finding that the system could breach the <strong>freedom to provide services under Article 56 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"727\" height=\"413\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/09\/netherlands-extends-lotto-monopoly-for-five-years3.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18669\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.7574850299401197;width:840px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/09\/netherlands-extends-lotto-monopoly-for-five-years3.png 727w, https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/09\/netherlands-extends-lotto-monopoly-for-five-years3-300x170.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 727px) 100vw, 727px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Ksa and Lotto appealed<\/strong>, and the <strong>Raad van State suspended the ruling on April 19, 2024<\/strong>, pending a final decision on the merits. The Netherlands recorded approximately <strong>\u20ac4.3 billion in GGR in 2024<\/strong>, while major lotteries generated <strong>\u20ac2.42 billion in sales<\/strong>, up from <strong>\u20ac2.33 billion in 2023<\/strong>. Nederlandse Loterij contributed <strong>\u20ac200.6 million<\/strong> to the State, sport and social organizations in <strong>2025<\/strong>, including <strong>\u20ac126.4 million to the Dutch State<\/strong>, <strong>\u20ac53.8 million to NOC*NSF and sports federations<\/strong>, and <strong>\u20ac20.4 million to 18 charitable organizations<\/strong>.
