While it noted the ongoing work of reform and that gambling remains the island\u2019s responsibility, it argued serious crime could affect the government\u2019s probity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/assets\/international\/dutch-government-to-enter-consultation-with-cura%C3%A7ao-to-ensure-gambling-supervision-is-tightened-with-the-aim-of-combatting-money-laundering2.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As such, it called on the Dutch government to enter consultation with Cura\u00e7ao to ensure gambling supervision is tightened with the aim of combatting money laundering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The risk of Cura\u00e7ao being placed on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fatf-gafi.org\/content\/fatf-gafi\/en\/publications\/High-risk-and-other-monitored-jurisdictions\/increased-monitoring-october-2024.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Financial Action Task Force\u2019s (FATF) list on jurisdictions under increased monitoring<\/a>, the so-called grey list, was a major factor in reform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Historically, Cura\u00e7ao gaming businesses were licensed under a two-tiered master and sub-licence system. This framework saw lower-level licences subject to far less stringent oversight in practice than high-level licences, which critics warned posed responsible gambling and money laundering risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/assets\/international\/dutch-government-to-enter-consultation-with-cura%C3%A7ao-to-ensure-gambling-supervision-is-tightened-with-the-aim-of-combatting-money-laundering3.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.curacao-egaming.com\/\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under new legislation, master licences will be abolished with the goal of a new gambling regulator supervising all businesses according to the same set of rules. Many of the world\u2019s offshore gambling businesses have been licensed in Cura\u00e7ao.
