The winner of the first round was <strong>Abelardo de la Espriella<\/strong>, who secured <strong>43.7% of the vote<\/strong>, representing more than <strong>10.3 million ballots<\/strong>, compared with the <strong>40.9%<\/strong> obtained by <strong>Iv\u00e1n Cepeda<\/strong>, the candidate representing continuity of the left-wing political project that has governed Colombia since 2022. For the gaming industry, one of the most significant developments was the imposition of a <strong>19% VAT on online betting<\/strong> through <strong>Decree 175 of 2025<\/strong>, a measure that was later challenged and overturned by Colombia\u2019s Constitutional Court. Casinos and bingo halls transferred <strong>COP378.268 billion<\/strong> to Colombia\u2019s healthcare system during <strong>2025<\/strong>, an increase of <strong>9.3%<\/strong> compared with the previous year, while approximately <strong>109,000 legal slot machines<\/strong> operated across more than <strong>3,700 authorized venues<\/strong>.
