What has been confirmed is that it will cover <strong>land-based casinos, remote betting centers and digital platforms<\/strong>, with stronger coordination among Segob, the Finance Ministry, the Financial Intelligence Unit and security authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"743\" height=\"501\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/09\/mexico-tightens-casino-rules-with-new-law-and-aml-controls3.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18509\" style=\"width:840px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/09\/mexico-tightens-casino-rules-with-new-law-and-aml-controls3.png 743w, https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/09\/mexico-tightens-casino-rules-with-new-law-and-aml-controls3-300x202.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 743px) 100vw, 743px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Omar Reyes Colmenares<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The tougher approach follows Segob\u2019s suspension of <strong>13 land-based and virtual casinos on November 11, 2025<\/strong>, over suspected illicit operations identified alongside the <strong>Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP)<\/strong> and the <strong>Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF)<\/strong>. From 2026, the <strong>IEPS tax on gaming and betting increased from 30% to 50%<\/strong>, including internet-based activity. Casinos are also subject to the <strong>LFPIORPI<\/strong>, which classifies them as Vulnerable Activities, and since <strong>August 10, 2026<\/strong> they have operated under new AML rules based on risk assessment, KYC, beneficial ownership checks and PEP monitoring.
