“los Choneros” have been the topic of conversation since last Sunday their leader José Adolfo Macías Villamar, better known as Fito, escaped from the Guayaquil maximum security prison in Ecuador. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, declared a state of emergency for the entire country starting Monday, January 8, to face the “serious internal commotion” they are experiencing<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“Los Choneros” have been blamed for the murder of presidential candidate Fernando Villavicencio, who in August 2023 was attacked with a volley of gunshots as he left a political rally.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And according to the expert from the Central University of Ecuador, Fito's assets are close to 17 million dollars and that his case is a reflection of <\/span><\/span>"the infiltration that organized crime has achieved in general at the level of the police and state structure."<\/em><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
