What was once a state-by-state experiment in legal sports betting has mutated into a <strong>jurisdictional minefield<\/strong>, with the <strong>Department of Justice (DOJ)<\/strong> and <strong>Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)<\/strong> increasingly forced into the role of arbiter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nowhere is this more evident than in the DOJ\u2019s <strong>escalating scrutiny of offshore crypto sportsbooks<\/strong>, which operate via <strong>Telegram bots<\/strong>, blockchain wallets, and <strong>decentralized platforms (DeFi)<\/strong>. These sites often target U.S. players without licensure, tax compliance or player protection protocols.
