Morgan analyst <strong>Daniel Politzer<\/strong>, the gaming stocks tracked by the firm fell an average of <strong>7% in August<\/strong>, while the <strong>S&amp;P 500 gained 3%<\/strong>. It was the group\u2019s worst August since 2019. Among the factors weighing on investors were the conflict with Iran, persistently high interest rates, lower liquidity and a broader sense of uncertainty that has kept many investors on the sidelines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Inside the casinos, however, the picture looked different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/landing\/multigame-link\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\" noreferrer noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/multigamelogo.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Regional gaming revenue increased by as much as <strong>6% in July<\/strong> and approximately <strong>2% in August<\/strong>. At <strong>PENN Entertainment<\/strong> properties, July revenue growth reached <strong>9%<\/strong>. Yet PENN shares fell roughly <strong>17% in August<\/strong>. <strong>Station Casinos<\/strong> declined about <strong>11%<\/strong>, while <strong>Boyd Gaming<\/strong> lost approximately <strong>8%<\/strong>. <strong>Churchill Downs<\/strong> was the exception, gaining around <strong>3%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PENN may offer the clearest contrast. During the second quarter, the company reported <strong>US$1.5 billion in retail revenue<\/strong> and <strong>US$517.2 million in adjusted EBITDAR<\/strong>. Nine properties also posted quarterly records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Geopolitics, however, can eventually move from the financial markets directly into casino operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Wynn Resorts<\/strong> increased the budget for <strong>Wynn Al Marjan Island<\/strong> in the United Arab Emirates by <strong>US$600 million<\/strong> and pushed its opening back to September 2027. CEO <strong>Craig Billings<\/strong> attributed approximately <strong>US$300 million<\/strong> of that increase to disruptions linked to the regional conflict, including higher material, transportation and financing costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For now, the numbers point to something more interesting than a simple sell-off: <strong>Wall Street\u2019s punishment appears to be running ahead of any meaningful deterioration in casino operations.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That does not mean casinos are insulated from war, expensive oil or persistently high interest rates. It means those risks have not yet appeared with the same intensity on the casino floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is what will be worth watching over the next several months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the conflict drags on and begins to affect consumer spending, tourism, financing and expansion costs, the gap between market valuations and operating performance may start to close. But if macroeconomic conditions stabilize and casino revenue keeps growing, August may ultimately look more like a reset in expectations than a warning about the underlying business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Gaming stocks are flashing a warning.
