Chilean courts have backed that interpretation, and in September <strong>Subtel ordered the blocking of dozens of domains<\/strong> linked to online betting and gaming platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/landing\/multigame-link\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\" noreferrer noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/multigamelogo.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So far, the message seems clear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The contradiction begins when the match starts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2026, <strong>all 16 clubs in Chile\u2019s top football division have some form of sponsorship linked to betting companies<\/strong>. Apuestas Royal has deals with eleven clubs, including eight as main sponsor and three in secondary positions. Other teams display brands such as JugaBet, BC Game, Pin Up and 1xBet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is where the regulatory paradox becomes difficult to ignore: <strong>the State restricts access to the business while millions of fans continue to see those same brands every weekend on shirts, stadium signage and broadcasts.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This does not necessarily mean that sponsorship is legally equivalent to operating an online betting platform. In fact, that distinction is part of the problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chile has spent years debating how to regulate online betting and how far sports advertising restrictions should go. Bills addressing betting advertising, unauthorized platforms and sports integrity continue to move through the legislative process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Football, meanwhile, has found a source of financing that is difficult to replace. The CEO of Apuestas Royal publicly stated that agreements with eleven clubs represented approximately <strong>US$3 million<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/landing\/multigame-link\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\" noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"700\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/08\/multigame-diamod-III-700-eng.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9622\" style=\"width:840px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/08\/multigame-diamod-III-700-eng.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/08\/multigame-diamod-III-700-eng-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mundovideo.com.co\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/08\/multigame-diamod-III-700-eng-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Colombia offers a useful comparison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There too, football has become heavily dependent on betting sponsorships. At one point, <strong>19 of the 20 clubs in the top division<\/strong> had agreements with betting operators. But the Colombian debate takes place within a regulated online betting market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chile\u2019s dilemma starts one step earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The issue is not only how dependent football should become on betting money.
