The global poker industry continues to be affected by the COVID-19, even the countries where it happens first. Two major tournament poker series scheduled to take place in Asia next month been cancelled due to ongoing health and travel restrictions.
With this have been said, the first mayor poker cancelled was originally scheduled to take place at Resorts World Manila from 8 to 21 September the event was the Asian Poker Tour. The decision came after Philippine continues to struggle to contain the virus. The APT has not held a live event since APT Taiwan in March.
Also, in Korea, the popular World Poker Tour event, scheduled for 20 to 23 September, could not continue because of international travel restrictions. The WPT had previously cancelled all events through May 2020.
However, not everything is cancelled events. The WPT in Japan, went correctly and achieved a record of 726 entries. This has been the first WPT live event since March.
