The global online poker cash game traffic has understandably plummeted following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine last week, leading to a four-month low.
According to the latest traffic data provided by independent industry monitor Game Intel, total traffic across the global market fell by nearly 3000 average concurrent seats in the last ten days, representing a drop of 11%.
While the Eastern Europe operators naturally took the biggest hit, global online poker giants PokerStars and GGPoker , which has a large number of players from the affected regions — also saw a sharp decline.
GGPoker took a fall of 10%, but the behemoth PokerStars lost even more, down 15%, allowing the former to take the number one spot in the cash game rankings once again. At 5800 concurrent cash game seats, it enjoys a slim 3% lead over PokerStars, who is currently averaging close to 5600 seats.
