Like the New York Gambling Commission scandal, in Colombia Coljuegos is now in the eye of the hurricane for alleged sexual harassment.
The recent dispute over the presidency of Coljuegos is in the sights of the Prosecutor's Office. There is an alleged sexual assembly that is being investigated and that was launched to get Roger Carrillo out of the way, who was president of that entity. An anonymous complaint, filed by officials, implicated him and the former administrative manager Gustavo Aroca in an alleged sexual harassment against the lawyer Laura Ávila.
Unjustified dismissals as political pressure in Coljuegos, the reason for the union
Ávila revealed details of what happened. She maintained that she ended up embroiled in a power struggle in which she sullied her name and her career as a lawyer. She warned that if the harassment had been true, she would have been the first to report it. However, she did not find out what was happening until that topic became common in the corridors of Coljuegos. That was when she learned of the anonymous complaint that said that she had allegedly committed acts of corruption and was sleeping with the managers to hide those facts.
Given the seriousness of the accusations, Ávila hired a lawyer and filed a complaint with the Prosecutor's Office for libel and slander. But the case was filed. The one that does remain firm was the one presented by Coljuegos against Ávila for alleged corruption. Even her office was raided by the judicial body. Ávila is no longer in Coljuegos because she did not renew her contract.
Twitter user @tifags (right) denounced Hincapié for looting the entity by offering jobs as a perk to boost the political career of her son who is running for mayor of Ibagué,
She claims that it was a dirty war for the power of the entity, especially between Roger Carrillo and Roberto Pérez, who were vying for the presidency at the beginning of this year.
She assures that those responsible for the complaint against her and the managers were filed by officials of the entity. Among others, she mentioned Diana Medina, vice president of control of illegal operations. Regarding the alleged act of corruption that she would have committed, the lawyer Ávila says that it was a process that expired, but she claims that she always answered the requests and sent them to her superiors. And that they would have used that fact to make the complaint and relate it to the alleged sexual harassment. In the published document it is said that she "every day she comes dressed in provocative and vulgar clothes to the office," because the managers supposedly asked her to do so to cover up the investigated process.
She acknowledges that, although that is her way of dressing, it has nothing to do with her acting as a professional, so she reiterates that she never had any relationship of any kind, let alone a sexual one, with someone from the entity. "They began to mess with my personal things, my way of dressing and my way of speaking," Ávila complained.
Despite the stares and judgment from her colleagues, because it was already a topic that was being discussed in the corridors, Ávila continued to go to work for several weeks. “As a woman it was terrible that the whole world knew about that complaint. I was like a 'bitch', like a exhibitionist and there was never justice, ”she assured.
Ávila helped create the union, for which she would have jurisdiction, another reason why they could not have fired her from her. “Laura is the founder of the union that was established a month ago and, despite that, her contract with the company ended. That is an objective fact. I am also aware that a "pasquín" arrived in which accusations were made against her of sexual issues," said Cristian Ariza, president of the Coljuegos union.
