MGM Resorts International and BetMGM announced a commitment of more than US$1 million in responsible gaming initiatives tied to Problem Gambling Awareness Month (March), expanding research support, public education and frontline programming across both retail and digital channels.
A key component is a US$450,000 contribution to the International Center for Responsible Gaming (ICRG) to fund a three-year research initiative focused on sports wagering and its potential impacts on player behavior. The companies also said they plan to direct more than US$850,000 in 2026 to national and state organizations supporting problem-gambling prevention, treatment and responsible gaming resources.

On the operational side, MGM highlighted continued expansion of its GameSense program—licensed from British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC)—noting it has now trained and certified more than 2,000 GameSense Advisors. MGM said it will increase visibility of responsible gaming messaging and QR resources across properties (including convention centers, arenas and theaters) as well as in customer touchpoints such as MGM Rewards desks and BetMGM’s app experience.
The March plan also includes a BetMGM email campaign to customers, an MGM Rewards survey measuring awareness and sentiment, and participation in the 13th annual Gambling Disorder Screening Day led by Cambridge Health Alliance. MGM said it will also continue employee education through its sixth year working with EPIC Global Solutions, which delivers “lived experience” responsible gaming sessions.

In the announcement, Stephen Martino (SVP & Chief Compliance Officer, MGM Resorts) and Rhea Loney (Chief Compliance Officer, BetMGM) framed the investment as part of a broader strategy to normalize limit-setting and time-out behaviors, ahead of BetMGM’s planned “Earn More. Play Smart.” campaign launching in spring 2026.
