The National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) has introduced 1-800-MY-RESET as the new phone number for the National Problem Gambling Helpline, aiming to give the US a more memorable, easy-to-share entry point for support. The number is live and operational for calls, while the helpline continues to offer call, text and chat 24/7/365 through its national contact-center network.
The change follows the end of NCPG’s arrangement tied to 1-800-GAMBLER, a number owned by the Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey (CCGNJ) that became the subject of a highly public dispute over routing and control. As a continuity bridge, NCPG says the long-running helpline number 1-800-522-4700 remains active, and the new “MY-RESET” branding will roll out across jurisdictions at different speeds depending on state requirements.
National gambling helpline remains active despite contract battle

On the operations side, NCPG’s helpline functions as a “front door” that connects callers to local resources via a network of contact centers covering all 50 states and US territories. The organisation’s stated goal is to reduce barriers—making it easier for people concerned about their own gambling, or a loved one’s, to find vetted help without having to navigate state-by-state systems first.

NCPG also notes the service is not intended as an emergency hotline; those in immediate crisis should use emergency services.
