The Division of Gambling Enforcement (DGE) in New Jersey has reported that gambling revenue in the state in April reached US$352.2m, up 326.4 per cent year-on-year. However, it should be noted that April 2020’s revenue of US$82.6m was unusually low due to Covid-19 restritions.
Last month, online gambling win totalled US$107.7m, up 34.8 per cent. Sports wagering gross revenue was also up substantially at US$54.8m for the month, while casino win was US$189.6m.
The gambling industry contributed US$36m in taxes.
The DGE reported that the industry’s total gaming revenue for the first four months of 2021 was US$1.35bn, up 61.4 per cent from US$833.9m in 2020.
