Revenue from VIP baccarat amounted to some MOP8.56 billion (US$1.06 billion) in the first quarter of 2023, which accounts for about one fourth (24.7 per cent) of the city’s total revenue of MOP34.6 billion (US$4.28 billion) for the first three months of the year, the figure represented an increase of 89.5 percent year-on-year, and was up 207.8 percent quarter-on-quarter, according to data released on Monday as indicated s from the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ).
The number of live gaming tables in the Macau market stood at 6,000 at the end of the March quarter, while the tally of slot machines was 12,000.
Overall gaming revenue in the first quarter totalled MOP34.6 billion, indicating a 94 per cent year-on-year increase. The tally represents 26.2 per cent of the MOP130 billion (US$16 billion) target set by the government for this year.
