The executive chef allegedly committed passive bribery in the private sector provided for in the law of Prevention and Suppression of Bribery in the Private Sector. The case has been referred to the Public Prosecutions Office for follow-up.

The suspect, who has already left the company, oversaw the gaming company’s food and beverage department, the CCAC said in a statement on Tuesday. An investigation by the CCAC found that the suspect had the power to “hire, fire and promote employees”, which allowed him to abuse his authority in the workplace.
He was also found to have repeatedly demanded “respect” from his subordinates by “soliciting fees from several subordinates” every month between September 2020 and February 2023. The money he received was said to have been used as kickbacks for job recommendations and contract renewals, totaling around MOP240,000 (US$29,859).
