After a significant downturn in March 2024, China's lottery industry has demonstrated a robust recovery in March 2025. According to the Ministry of Finance, lottery ticket sales reached 58.22 billion yuan (approximately $8.08 billion) in March 2025, marking a 4.7% increase compared to the same month in the previous year.
China National Lottery Sales Down 13.2% Year-on-Year in March 2024
This resurgence follows a challenging period in March 2024, where sales had declined by 13.2% year-on-year, totaling 36.30 billion yuan (around $5.02 billion).

The 2025 growth is attributed to several factors:
- Digitalization and Mobile Platforms: Enhanced accessibility through digital channels has attracted a younger demographic, contributing to increased participation.
- Product Diversification: The introduction of new lottery games and formats has broadened the market appeal.
- Economic Factors: Amid economic uncertainties, more individuals are turning to lotteries as a potential financial opportunity.

Regionally, provinces like Guangdong and Zhejiang have reported significant sales increases, reflecting a nationwide upward trend. Analysts suggest that this rebound indicates a stabilization and potential growth trajectory for China's lottery market in the coming years.
