Officials in Japan have proposed facial recognition systems at pachinko parlors, boat, future casino resorts and horseracing venues, to help tackle gambling addiction. Refusing the entry of verified problem gamblers and underage gamblers (under the age of 20 according to Japanese law).
There has also been a call to remove ATM machines from the premises of pachinko parlors. The government has pitched this concept to the public, who will be able to share their opinion on the idea until 27 March.
If the public is on board with the decision, the government will finalize a policy for the nation’s public gambling facilities by the end of April, aiming for construction by 2021.
Japan has announced 20 major cities will begin setting up treatment and support centers for problem gamblers by 2020.
