Hann casino resort expansion powers Clark’s rise on the Philippines gaming map

Published date: 2025-12-12

Hann Casino Resort is set to play a bigger role in the Philippines’ development story. This Friday, the Clark-based integrated resort will officially open “The Canyon”, a major casino expansion that strengthens Clark Freeport’s position as a fast-rising gaming and tourism hub in Luzon.

The new wing adds a large first-floor gaming area with hundreds of additional slot machines and dozens of new tables, significantly increasing capacity for both local and international players. For the Philippines, that translates into higher gross gaming revenue (GGR) outside Metro Manila, supporting the long-term policy goal of diversifying casino activity beyond Entertainment City.

“The Canyon” is more than extra floor space. It plugs into a broader master plan that includes new hotel rooms, premium F&B outlets and upscale play areas targeting higher-spend visitors from Korea, Japan, China and across Southeast Asia. Each new phase pushes Clark closer to becoming a full-scale destination resort cluster, reinforcing demand for air connectivity, retail, entertainment and MICE business in the region.

On the macro side, the expansion underlines the Philippines’ status as an emerging integrated-resort market, competing for regional capital with Cambodia and Vietnam, while positioning itself just below Singapore and Macau in the premium tier. Every additional square meter of gaming and resort space in Clark supports jobs in casino operations, hospitality, security, food service and outsourced support services.

If PAGCOR stays the course on regulatory reform and gradual privatization, projects like Hann Casino Resort will be showcase assets: privately funded, internationally benchmarked, and steadily feeding tax revenue and foreign currency into the Philippine economy.
