Officers in India have busted an illegal gambling operation at a flat in Chilavannoor, in the state of Kerala. The alleged leader was arrested during the raid. Police also seized several plastic coins with different denominations and playing cards.
Police detected the illegal gambling center while they were investigating a case linked to narcotics.
A few weeks ago, police had made two arrests after busting an illegal cricket betting racket that was taking bets through a website. According to the Deccan Herald, the police seized cash debit cards, mobile phones and cheque books from various banks.
One of the men arrested had previously been accused of involvement in two gambling cases in 2019. He was under police watch in Hyderabad but moved to Warangal.
In August, a New Delhi police officer was dismissed for being involved in an organized illegal cricket betting operation. Amit Kumar was also accused of being associated with criminals and rioters and of organizing illegal gambling events.
