The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) of Macau is set to expand its workforce in 2025, anticipating a net increase of 65 staff members, predominantly in inspector roles. This development aligns with the bureau's ongoing restructuring efforts to enhance regulatory oversight in the gaming sector.

According to a Legislative Assembly report on Macau's 2025 financial-year budget plan, the DICJ's staffing is projected to grow from 192 to 459 positions, marking an approximate 139% increase over time. This expansion is deemed essential for the effective implementation of casino inspection duties during the current gaming concession period, which commenced on January 1, 2023.
The DICJ's commitment to strengthening its regulatory framework is further evidenced by the establishment of an annual maximum limit of 250 collaborators for 2025, as determined on July 4, 2024.
This measure aims to ensure adequate staffing levels to meet the bureau's operational requirements and uphold the integrity of Macau's gaming industry.

In leadership developments, Adriano Marques Ho, who had led the DICJ since mid-2020, transitioned to the role of Director-General of Macau Customs Service on December 20, 2024. In the interim, Deputy Director Lio Chi Chong has been appointed as Acting Director of the bureau. These strategic initiatives underscore the Macau government's dedication to maintaining robust regulatory oversight in its gaming sector, ensuring compliance and fostering sustainable growth within the industry.
