MGM China has officially launched its new Responsible Gaming Employee Care Program, a forward-looking initiative unveiled during Macau’s busiest travel season—Golden Week—when the region saw a record-shattering 850,034 visitors. The program aims to empower MGM’s workforce with education, psychological support, and resources to promote ethical gaming behavior from within the industry.

The launch was supported by a notable group of government, academic, and civil society leaders, reflecting a unified approach to responsible gaming in the world's largest casino hub. Yang Yi, Deputy Division Head of the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government, attended the unveiling, signaling high-level governmental commitment.

From the regulatory side, Aster Ng, Head of the Division of Studies and Information Analysis at the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ), reinforced the importance of equipping front-line employees with the knowledge to intervene or guide at-risk behavior appropriately.

Leading academic voices also weighed in. Davis Fong, Director of the Institute for the Study of Commercial Gaming at the University of Macau, and Wang Chang Bin of Macao Polytechnic University emphasized the role of research-based frameworks in long-term prevention strategies.

The initiative also saw strong support from local community leaders like Choi Kam Fu of the Macao Federation of Trade Unions and Ip Kam Bo of the Sheng Kung Hui Macau Social Services Coordination Office. Together, they represent the broader civic partnership critical to MGM’s holistic approach.

Launching this initiative amid record tourism further positions MGM China as a pioneer in aligning commercial success with regulatory compliance and social responsibility—core values that shape Macau’s gaming future. This announcement echoes a growing sentiment across the region: sustainable growth in gaming must include employee empowerment and ethical leadership.
