The awakening of a giant

Published date: 2017-02-27
Asia

Asia, the sleeping giant, the largest unsold market on the planet for online poker, begins to wake up.

In the last few months, a voice of a network of Asian poker sites with traffic levels scarcely seen in the West, a myriad of skins with generic software, in which neither HUD nor the access to the western ones is allowed, and which covered the needs of alleged millions of customers.

Something like Area 51 of Asian poker. In fact, no one knew how to quantify the power of calling these sites, or even figure out how they were associated with each other, because the usual trackers did not include them in their listings. The awakening of a giant

Their advertisers boasted that their business was comparable to that of the largest operators in the other hemisphere, and that their databases reached nine digits. But there was no demonstration palpable, only logic suspected that the thousands of players who meet in the Asian tournaments had to be meeting their poker needs in some way. But to what extent?

Then came the day that PokerScout decided to identify the network in question, IDN Poker, monitor their most populous skins such as ShenPoker.com and account for their traffic.

The result has been the direct jump from IDNPoker Network to number 2 of online poker operators in terms of traffic, with three times cash players concurrent to Winamax.fr and twice as much as 888poker. com. The PokerStars.com numbers are still far behind, but it has been confirmation that online poker has already made its way to Asia.

IDN Poker's preferred formats, based in the Philippines, are Texas Hold'em No Limit and Chinese poker. The latter occupies up to 25% of the total traffic of the network. It is mainly nourished by the Chinese, Malay and Indonesian markets. But poker tables are not the main business of this network, which also offers online casino and betting.
