Published date: 2025-03-11

Wakayama Prefecture, having previously withdrawn its bid to host an Integrated Resort (IR) with a casino in 2022, is now reevaluating the potential economic benefits of such a venture. As of now, the central government has not provided official information regarding the next application phase, prompting Wakayama to actively seek updates on the matter.

As Wakayama awaits further guidance from the national government, the prefecture continues to balance the prospective economic benefits of an IR with the imperative to safeguard public welfare.
