Brazil’s federal government has launched a new online training course titled “Consumer Rights – Bettors and Bets: Beyond Gambling”, designed to educate bettors and the general public about the country’s betting market.
The free program, open for registration until October 20 through the National School of Consumer Defense, was developed in cooperation between the Prizes and Bets Secretariat of the Ministry of Finance (SPA-MF) and the National Consumer Secretariat (Senacon) of the Ministry of Justice.

According to Regis Dudena, Secretary of Prizes and Betting, the initiative’s core mission is to ensure transparency: “Only websites with the .bet.br domain are authorized by the Ministry of Finance. This ensures consumers can identify secure platforms and avoid illegal environments.”

The course modules cover how to identify regulated sportsbooks, the obligations of licensed operators, and the warning signs of unregulated platforms that leave consumers unprotected. For Paulo Henrique Pereira, National Consumer Secretary, the program is “a fundamental step to empower citizens and protect them in a rapidly growing sector.”

The launch highlights Brazil’s broader regulatory push as the betting industry surges. Officials estimate that the legal sports betting market could soon generate tens of billions of reais monthly, making consumer protection a central policy priority.
