Between January and September 2021, the collection from gambling industry in Colombia had a growth of 97% compared to the same period last year.
Coljuegos informed that the resources for this economic activity reached $499,452 million, a record figure in comparison with the $253,541 million reported in September of last year.
The figure also represents an increase of 3.6% compared to the amount recorded in 2019 when the collection amounted to $495,836 million pesos.
For the month of September 2021 alone, the collection reached 49,320 million pesos which means a growth percentage of 108% compared to 2020 when the collection barely reached 23,540 million pesos. Sales for the month of September 2021 achieved an increase of 116% reaching 4.1 billion pesos compared to 1.9 billion pesos obtained in 2020 for the same period.
The two activities that made a greater contribution to the collection of operating rights were casinos and bingos, which registered $173,214 million.
"I acknowledge the enormous effort made by the casinos that to date registered a 120% growth in exploitation rights compared to the same period of 2020 when the collection did not exceed $78,734 million pesos", added the President of Coljuegos.
Games operated through the Internet also registered a very significant growth in collection of 133% up to 128,130 million pesos in exploitation rights between January and September 2021
"Casinos registered gross sales of 19.8 billion pesos to date, with an increase of 160% compared to 2020 and Internet games sold 11 billion pesos, with a growth of 97% ", explained the President of Coljuegos.
Coljuegos informed that games of chance registered sales for $31.42 billion, between January and September 2021, which represents an increase of 131% compared to the same period of 2020, when sales amounted to $13.6 billion.
Finally, there is a lack of flavor in the air, because in spite of being the casinos those who have contributed the most post-pandemic, they have received the least support from Coljuegos and now a new chapter begins, where several operators will be threatened by having to face new debts to be able to survive the changes that Coljuegos seeks to implement in the industry
