A Colombia-based illegal online gambling group bringing in revenue of $863,000 dollars (€711,0000) per month has been shut down, it was an illegal group known as “Los Poker” which has an agreement with a company based in Malta.
They operated illegal gambling at 62 different URLs, with the gambling services provided by a Malta-based supplier. And had “an expert in computer systems” from the Northern city of Duitama was also one of the 15 members of the group, providing technical support.
The group also worked from Peru and Ecuador and targeted customers there as they are countries with a lack of legal regulations for online gambling.
The gang was camouflaged with the legal betting pages, that are authorized by Coljuegos. Their modus operandi was activated once the player books a ticked or place a bet and they gave you an illegal bet to keep the money from the taxes they had to pay.
It took for the authorities almost 2 years of investigations to chase them down.
