Mexico City, September 2025 — The Latin American gaming scene just leveled up. During GAT Expo Mexico, industry leaders announced the creation of the International Federation of Gaming Associations, with Colombia in the driver’s seat.

The federation debuts with founding members from Colombia, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, El Salvador, and the Dominican Republic, uniting forces to push for stronger regulation, responsible play, and a louder voice for the sector.
At the top of the organization sits Evert Montero Cárdenas, president of Fecoljuegos in Colombia, elected as the federation’s first president for a three-year term. His appointment signals Colombia’s growing weight in the gaming business, where the country has become a benchmark for compliance and innovation.

The mission is clear: share best practices, promote sustainable growth, and build a framework of legality and transparency. “It’s not just about numbers,” Montero stressed at the launch, “it’s about creating an industry that society can trust and governments can support.”

Talks are already underway to bring in new partners from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Panama, with a long-term goal of expansion into Europe, North America, and Asia. A provisional committee will draft the federation’s bylaws and governance model, with support from Vásquez & Asociados, a law firm with deep experience in gaming law.
