Colombia now becomes an advisor to other countries for the implementation and regulation of games of chance. After the approval by the Congress, the countdown to regulate the law which regulates the exploitation of remote games and sports betting in Peru has already started, officials of the Mincetur will meet with Coljuegos' representatives, in search of guidelines which can be of help in this process.
In Peru, the countdown to regulate the law that regulates the exploitation of remote gambling and sports betting has already started, reason why Yuri Guerra Padilla, director of the Control and Sanction Direction of the General Direction of Casino Games and Slot Machines of the Vice Ministry of Tourism, traveled to Bogota, and from today, Wednesday August 3rd, until next Friday 5th of the month they will have different work meetings with Coljuegos on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur).
"It is considered convenient to make a technical visit to the Industrial and Commercial Company of the State Administrator of the Rentistic Monopoly of Games of Luck and Chance - COLJUEGOS, a decentralized company linked to the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit of the Republic of Colombia, which has four (4) years of successful experience in regulation and formalization of distance games and distance sports betting", it is stated in the Peruvian newspaper.
The objective of this is to be able to exchange experiences and knowledge on technical norms, control protocols and supervision of the remote gambling and remote sports betting activity.
Once the meetings are over, the Peruvian team must present a detailed report to the Minister of Foreign Commerce and Tourism, Roberto Sanchez, on the actions carried out and results obtained in the meetings they will attend. Likewise, it was indicated that the accountability must be presented in accordance with the Law.
The trip was authorized and made official through its publication in the Diario El Peruano on Monday, August 1. Through the same, a budget of USD2,115 was defined for air travel and per diems, which will be borne by the portfolio.
Currently, Mincetur estimates that remote games and sports betting move around USD1,000m, without contributing to the national coffers. Therefore, through the new regulation, it is expected that the government will be able to collect USD39.9m annually, which will be invested in the reactivation of tourism, public infrastructure works and initiatives to promote sports.
