This was the sum that the census carried out by Coljuegos showed for the concession contracts of the MET units that operate legally in the country. The 96,120 METs operate in 3,099 establishments that are located throughout the country.
This figure undoubtedly represents a historical milestone and attests to the joint work between the governments, the police and Coljuegos to make operators aware "that being legal pays."
On the other hand, it is estimated that a number that could be around 50,000 units operate illegally under the protection of fraudulent licenses or agreements with the same Control entities that allow it in full view.
Many of the illegal machines have entered the country from Peru where they have been mostly stolen from the IGT crystal brand; others have been introduced under the modality of technical smuggling and others come from casinos or rooms that were closed during the quarantine and sold to cover the expenses of that time.
It should be noted that Coljuegos issued in 2016 the resolution that legalizes the operation in-route but that it has not wanted to reform because as it is written it is not viable and that if resolved it would also provide a historical collection never seen before, it could be 50% more than contribution of those located… it would be another RECORD.
