The gaming industry in Panama registered a remarkable recovery of 99% after the fall due to the Covid-19 pandemic, stated Manuel Sánchez, general director of the Gaming Control Board (JCJ) of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF). In total, during 2022 USD 2,500 million were bet.
The official highlighted that the industry has recovered "very well" in the Republic of Panama and expressed: "We are going to increase between 10% -12% in the income of JCJ. More than USD 2,500 million related to the gaming and chance industry were bet in the country in 2022 and this year we are going up.
However, from the Association of Games of Chance Administrators (Asaja) they emphasized that they have not yet recovered pre-pandemic levels and that this will take time.
The president of Asaja, Antonio Alfaro, assured that according to the group's estimates, "the sector will grow above what it was before the pandemic in 2025."
