Chile’s Superintendence of Gaming Casinos (SCJ) has approved the early termination requests submitted by Enjoy for its operating permits in Casino Enjoy Coquimbo and Casino del Lago Pucón. While the decision effectively ends the company’s long-term control of both properties, the ruling allows Enjoy to continue operating the venues for up to three more years to ensure an orderly transition.
Under the “renuncia anticipada” mechanism, Enjoy is released from the obligation to maintain performance bonds and is barred from participating in future bids for the same licenses. During the transition, the company must fulfill all regulatory duties, including gaming tax payments, annual license fees, and labor commitments.
The SCJ emphasized that this approach safeguards local employment—around 500 workers between Coquimbo and Pucón—and guarantees that municipal and regional governments continue to receive gaming tax revenues during the interim period. Once the transition ends or a new operator is selected, the SCJ will initiate fresh licensing processes in coordination with regional and local authorities.
These moves form part of Enjoy’s ongoing corporate restructuring, which began after its 2020 judicial reorganization and has since led to multiple strategic exits. Earlier this year, the company also sought to relinquish its license in Viña del Mar, a decision that remains under review.
Industry analysts see this as a significant shift in Chile’s gaming landscape, potentially opening the door for new operators to enter prime markets while signaling Enjoy’s intent to streamline operations and focus on its most profitable assets.
