Spelinspektionen, the Swedish Gaming Authority (SGA), and the International Association for Betting Integrity (IBIA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on integrity in sports betting.
This agreement unites the body charged with ensuring that the Swedish gambling market is legal, safe, and trustworthy, with the largest international betting integrity monitor of its kind in the world.
The MoU will allow both parties to share information on suspicious betting activities identified at Swedish sporting events. IBIA represents most of the SGA-licensed betting market, valued at SEK4.69 billion in gross gaming revenue in sports betting in 2022 according to industry-leading data and intelligence company, H2 Gambling Capital.
In December 2023, the Swedish Government notified the European Commission of its intention to amend the Gambling Ordinance. The changes include proposals for Sweden to fully comply with the Macolin Convention and for the SGA to establish and manage a platform for itself, licensed betting operators and national sports federations to share information about suspected match-fixing.
IBIA is a globally recognized non-profit organization that seeks to ensure integrity in the sports betting industry. Its membership includes nearly 50 companies and more than 125 leading sports betting brands with more than $137 billion in annual betting volume, making IBIA the leading operator-led integrity monitoring body in the world.
