Italy gaming industry stays in the air

Italy gaming. Prime Minister Matteo Renzi resigned because of the Italian vote on a constitutional reform. Prior to his resignation, Renzi promised in multiple times that he would disband the Italian gambling industry, this led to the point where it came out a prediction that one third of Italy’s gaming machines would be destroyed.

Alessia Crisantemi director of Gioconews, affirm that this is not something to trust in because “Just when a reform of the industry appeared to be close, or at least a reorganization of the industry, the discussions may have to begin again. For many, it will be a sigh of relief as the government had announced a plan at the Conferenza Unifacata, (the constitutional body dealing with reforms which concern the regions and municipalities), to hit the industry.” She also believes that if Renzi prepared the adjustments to submit them in the Senate, consequently after a settlement with the local authorities the reform could continue

In other aspects Rome’s Mayor Virginia Raggi announced that her anti-establishment Five Star Movement (M5S) presented a motion to prohibit slot machines and other gambling activities. In the draft is stated that slot machines might not be located within a 500m radius of sensitive sites in the capital.

Not finishing, Italian shopkeepers summon anti-gambling mayors to Italy’s Court of Audit, claiming that the metering’s are way too restrictive costing to them billions and loss of revenue.
