In a major regulatory shift, the Generalitat Valenciana has restructured its gambling oversight, assigning the functions of the now-defunct Servicio de Juego to the newly established Subdirección General de Juego. This change aims to enhance the control, regulation, and responsible gaming policies in the Valencia region as online and physical gambling continue to expand across Spain.

This restructuring follows the regional government’s broader administrative reorganization, seeking to improve efficiency and better address gambling-related concerns. The Subdirección General de Juego, under the Dirección General de Tributos y Juego, now oversees key responsibilities such as:
- Licensing and Authorization: Handling approvals, renewals, and modifications for casinos, bingo halls, betting operators, gaming arcades, and slot machine businesses.
- Lottery and Raffle Regulation: Managing permits for raffles, lotteries, and prize-based games exceeding €30,050.60.
- Official Gaming Registries: Maintaining up-to-date records of gaming operators, manufacturers, distributors, and licensed establishments.
- Self-Exclusion List Management: Ensuring that individuals who have voluntarily excluded themselves from gambling are effectively barred from gaming venues.
- Responsible Gambling Policies: Implementing preventive measures to address gambling addiction and collaborating with organizations to reduce problem gambling.

Additionally, the restructuring has led to updates in the Comisión Técnica de Coordinación Interadministrativa en Materia de Juego, which coordinates gaming policies across various governmental bodies in the region. The commission has been adapted to reflect the changes brought by Decreto 10/2023, which reorganized the internal structure of the Generalitat Valenciana.
