United States Ban online poker. Contempt Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware already has a regulated online poker industry, and the nearly $150 million in online gaming revenue in 2015 in The Garden State, which was more than 90 percent of the market between the three states. The attorney general of the Silver State has joined nine others from across the country in supporting a Sheldon Adelson-backed plan to lawless the activity across the country.
There’s been recoil to the move, with Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval and Nevada Gaming Control Board Chairman A.G. Burnett assert against their Attorney General, Adam Laxalt.
The top law enforcement officers in Louisiana, Michigan, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas and Utah agreed Laxalt, to encourage Donald Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence to “help in restoring the Wire Act’s provisions.” in a letter dated Nov.17.
Obama´s Department of justice re-interpreted the Wire Act of 1961, in order to enable the states to release real-money online casinos and internet lottery services as long as it didn’t include sports betting. Earlier in 2011, the Department of J. arraign for doing business with Americans, some owners of the major offshore poker sites in an event called Black Friday.
Adelson, a casino owner with a net worth of $33 billion (Forbes data), said several years ago, that he thinks online games hurt brick-and-mortar casinos. Also, he recently took pelt alt at the poker in an interview with Yahoo Finance by saying that poker isn’t a game of skill.
RAWA becoming law would end the efforts in those states and potentially shut down the existing industries in Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware.
The last thing known on RAWA legislation was the public speech of Rep. John Chaffetz (R-Utah) on his attempt of banning online casino games.
While Trump is largely favorable to gambling because of his Atlantic City casino experience, Pence is his completely antonyms, opposing to online gaming. He not only has supported RAWA efforts, but he also was in favor of the 2006 Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.
Other states considering online poker include California, New York, Massachusetts and Michigan.
