FEJAR warns of growing addiction to Spanish lotteries.

FEJAR warns of growing addiction to Spanish lotteries.

Federation of Rehabilitated Gamblers FEJAR*. The Christmas Lottery, which represents 32.8% of the income of the State Lotteries and Betting, becomes an additional challenge for those struggling with gambling addiction, and FEJAR* advocates for greater awareness and regulation to protect the vulnerable population.

FEJAR* highlights the need to implement stricter control of access to all types of bets, including the purchase of Lottery tickets or ONCE tickets. Currently, registration in the General Registry of Gambling Access Prohibitions (RGIAJ) prohibits access to online games and bets but does not prevent participation in Lottery draws that are held in person.

The problem worsens when the numbers acquired are awarded, since those registered in the registry cannot claim the prizes. In January, there were 72,696 people registered, a significant increase from the previous year.

Juan Lamas, president of FEJAR*, highlights the need to establish more rigorous access control and suggests that a preventive intervention be carried out, informing the population about the negative consequences of gambling.

The associations of rehabilitated players emphasize the importance of prevention and education, urging institutions to take measures to counteract the negative influence of lottery advertising during the Christmas season.
