20 yards and no touchdowns entangle Kayson Boutte

Former Louisiana State University football player Kayshon Boutte was arrested Thursday on charges involving illegal sports betting. Boutte, now 21, allegedly made 8,900 sports betting wagers between April 6, 2022 and May 7, 2023, when he was underage, including at least 17 on NCAA football games and at least six on LSU football games.

He faces one felony charge of computer fraud, and one misdemeanor charge of gaming prohibited for persons under 21.

Sports betting allegations immediately

Boutte, who now plays for the New England Patriots, was booked, and immediately released from the East Baton Rouge Parish jail. He posted $6,000 bond, according to local affiliate WAFB. The investigation remains ongoing, and could result in additional charges, police said.

Boutte allegedly bet on himself, with mother’s bank card.

According to the police report, FanDuel Sportsbook reported the illegal wagering activity to the state gaming enforcement division’s sports wagering unit in July 2023.

A bank card in his mother’s name allegedly funded a pair of FanDuel accounts used by Boutte.

Boutte allegedly placed a pair of bets on himself for a Sept. 4, 2022 game against Florida State University. He wagered on himself as an anytime touchdown scorer, and to go over 82.5 receiving yards. It was part of an eight-leg parlay. Boutte ended the game with 20 receiving yards and no touchdowns.
