A Halfmoon man punched a slot machine at Rivers Casino & Resort in Schenectady and now faces a felony, authorities said. Thomas B. Waicul, 47, was arrested Saturday evening and charged with one count of second-degree criminal mischief.
Waicul is accused of intentionally damaging the slot machine at about 7:44 p.m. Saturday by hitting it with his fist, according to police allegations filed in court.
The strike caused glass on the machine to break, damage that totaled more than $1,500, the threshold for the second-degree criminal mischief charge, according to the allegations.
Waicul has since been released on his own recognizance.
This arrest follows an unrelated casino incident involving a Baccarat dealer and patron, who were each arrested earlier this month. In that case, the dealer and patron, also from Halfmoon, were accused of working together to take an estimated $20,000 from the casino through pay-outs on non-winning hands, according to allegations filed in that case.
