Yet another NBA player has found himself under scrutiny as Malik Beasley, the Detroit Pistons shooting guard, has reportedly become the subject of a federal gambling investigation tied to prop bets on NBA performance.
NBA Star Terry Rozier Caught in Betting Scandal? Shocking New Details Emerge
According to sources familiar with the matter, the probe centers on unusual betting activity connected to Beasley’s stats, including rebounds and three-pointers, dating back to his 2023–24 season with the Milwaukee Bucks. One major U.S. sportsbook flagged an abnormal surge in bets around January of last year, raising federal oversight concerns.

Beasley, 28, who averaged 16.3 points over 82 games last season, had been in contract talks for a three-year, $42 million deal with Detroit—which have since stalled. NBA spokesperson Mike Bass confirmed the league is cooperating with federal authorities, while Beasley’s attorney reminded the public that “an investigation is not a charge.”

This marks the latest incident in the NBA’s ongoing war against gambling misconduct. The league previously dished out a lifetime ban to Jontay Porter for betting-related violations, and earlier this year Terry Rozier underwent scrutiny over similar suspicions—though he wasn’t charged.
With federal authorities now involved, Beasley could face dramatic consequences, including fines, suspension or even criminal charges. For now, the NBA’s gamble on player integrity continues—and this time Beasley is right in the crosshairs.
