According to health guidelines issued by the Indiana Gambling Commission, the 13 state-licensed casinos operating in Indiana have decided to prolong the rule on wearing face masks inside until at least the end of this month.
The commission said casinos will later review whether to continue the mask requirement past June 1.
Governor Eric Holcomb lifted the face mask mandate in Indiana on April 6. However, Casino rules demand employees always wear masks and clients wear them except when eating, smoking, or drinking at a bar, restaurant, or when seated at a slot machine.
Currently, state guidelines require casinos to obtain a permit from local health authorities before hosting any kind of event that involves big crowds and to keep additional space between slot machine players.
This Saturday, Indiana’s state department revealed that 1,191 people had tested positive with Covid-19 out of a total of 721,577 diagnosed people. In the state 4,278,157, vaccine doses have been administered: 2,359, 964 being first doses while 1,918,193 people have been fully vaccinated.
