Members of the Illinois Gambling Board have given preliminary approval for a casino to be built along Interstate 74, in the city of Danville. The $60m project is expected to create at least 300 full-time jobs and generate $4m to $6m in annual revenue for the city.
The proposed Golden Nugget Danville Casino would feature a 41,500 square foot gambling floor with 500 slot machines, 14 table games, two restaurants, including a Saltgrass Steakhouse, a sportsbook, and 650 surface parking spaces. It would also offer online gambling and sports betting through Golden Nugget Online Gambling.
According to Danville mayor Rickey Williams Junior, approval of the casino project’s suitability would allow construction to begin immediately. Williams said the casino would not receive an actual state gambling licence until after it opened.
