Las Vegas Emerges as a Premier Sports Hub: Allegiant Stadium to Host CFP National Championship 2027

Published date: 2025-01-27

Las Vegas is solidifying its position as a premier sports destination in the United States. Allegiant Stadium, home to the NFL's Las Vegas Raiders and the UNLV Rebels, has been selected to host the College Football Playoff National Championship on January 25, 2027.

This makes Las Vegas the third city in the Pacific Time Zone to host this prestigious event, following the San Francisco Bay Area in 2019 and Los Angeles in 2023.

College Football Playoff Executive Director Rich Clark praised Las Vegas' ability to deliver world-class events: "Las Vegas has shown the world they have amazing venues and boundless energy to host an event like the College Football Playoff National Championship in spectacular fashion. I can’t think of a better stage to crown the best team in college football in 2027."

This announcement highlights Las Vegas' transformation into a global sports destination, a shift driven by the 2018 U.S. Supreme Court decision that allowed states to legalize sports betting. Since then, the city has experienced significant growth, attracting top-tier sports teams and major events.

Allegiant Stadium, which opened in 2020, has hosted iconic events such as Super Bowl LVIII in 2024, three matches during the 2024 Copa América, and is set to host WrestleMania 41 on April 19-20, 2025. Additionally, the city will serve as the venue for the F1 Academy finale in November 2025, further cementing its status as a must-visit destination for sports fans.

Economically, Las Vegas welcomed approximately 38.2 million visitors in the first 11 months of 2024, marking a 2.2% increase compared to the same period in 2023. With more than 150,000 hotel rooms and strategically located venues, Las Vegas is well-equipped to handle large-scale events, seamlessly combining sports and entertainment.

From marquee sports championships to world-class infrastructure, Las Vegas continues to shine as one of the most dynamic sports cities in the United States.
